A cover girl no less!
I went to Queen Margaret University (or QMC as it was back then in the late ’80s) in Edinburgh, my home town. The Communication Studies degree course at QMU gave me the creative and collaborative skills to work in the Media, as I have done now for 35 years!! (Crikey!)
And ultimately my big dream of getting in front of camera… as quickly as possible as a TV presenter!
I had such a determined, adrenalin-pumping desire to present, that I told everyone I met where I worked behind the scenes at the BBC in News and Current Affairs where I started out. Including veteran broadcasters David Dimbleby and Peter Sissons who must have seen me coming!
In fact, Peter kindly gave me my first ever reference to be a presenter.
I loved everything about working in TV in those very early days and the utter thrill of arriving at BBC Television Centre every morning to go to work was the most electric feeling in the world, something that I can’t shake off to this day.
So, I’m forever grateful to QMU for kick-starting this crazy career as a TV presenter and performance coach, and all the incredible people and projects I’ve had the great joy to work with along the way.
A spot of reflection is always good for the soul, don’t you think? It takes you right back.
